German red cabbage

This is so simple to make and simply delicious. Just remember to stir from time to time so the bottom doesn't burn.

I found this recipe online from "Taste of Home".

Ingredients

§  1 tsp oil

§  1 medium onion, halved and slices

§  1 medium apple (with skin), sliced

§  1 medium head red cabbage, shredded

§  1/3 cup sugar

§  1/3 cup white vinegar

§  ¾ tsp salt

§  ¼ tsp pepper

 

1.   Put the oil in in a heavy pot and heat.

2.   Add the onion and apple and stir over a medium heat until the onion is tender (about 5 minutes).

3.   Stir in the remaining ingredients.

4.   Cook covered until the cabbage is tender (about 1 hour), stirring occasionally.

Serve either warm or cold.
